The Date [Oneshot]

"Come on" Candi moaned, "This date could be the start of a long lasting relationship"

"Yeah, that's what you've said about the other 100 and something dates you've set up for me" Nicki said.

"This one is different, I promise"

"Yeah yeah, whatever"

"No but really. Tell her Thembi"

Thembi, who clearly wasn't listening to what they were talking about simply looked up from her phone and nodded.

"See?" Candi pointed out.

"No" Nicki looked at her with a blank expression on her face.

"Anyways, you have to be at the restaurant in an hour so start getting ready"

Why did I agree to this stupid date?

Nicki went to the bathroom to have a shower while Candi, TT, Thembi and Lauren rummaged through her wardrobe for an outfit for her to wear.

"Nicki hurry up!" Lauren shouted.

"Ergh. I'm out of the shower" Nicki said, walking to her bed wrapped in her towel.

"We'll go downstairs while you get changed. Your dress and shoes are next to the bed. Call us when you're finished" Candi told her as the girls scurried out Nicki's bedroom door.

"Okay" Nicki replied.

Candi shut the door behind her and Nicki began to lotion her body. Once she finished, she put on her underwear and put on her dress.

They did a good job with this one. Nicki looked at her reflection in her mirror. The dress was a simple but sophisticated red dress and it hugged her curves.

Nicki grabbed the nude shoes they had picked out and was surprised as she actually liked the complete outfit. After putting her shoes on, she opened her bedroom door.

"You can come up now!" A few moments later, footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs.

"Right. I'm doing your hair, Lauren's doing your makeup, TT's going to check on your date and Thembi can do whatever she wants to" Candi announced.

"Wow okay" Nicki said, stunned.

"That's nice" Thembi said as she sat on Nicki's bed.

"Alright, let's get started" Candi said.

30 minutes later, Nicki's hair was done. It was curled but not in huge curls, they looked very natural and her makeup was almost finished.

"Hold on, 5 more seconds" Lauren whispered as she added the final touch to Nicki's face.

"Done!" Nicki got up from her vanity and looked at her appearance in the big mirror in her room.

"Wow. Thank you so much" Nicki ran her fingers through her hair.

"Don't get emotional or anything cause I spent ages doing your makeup" Lauren smiled.

"Enough of that, you have about 10 minutes before you're supposed to be at the restaurant" Candi exclaimed.

"You look really nice, Nic" Thembi said and everyone nodded in agreement.

"Thank you"

Nicki grabbed a jacket and put it on then she and the girls walked downstairs. When they got downstairs, Nicki's taxi was outside waiting for her.

"That's my ride. Y'all will be here when I come back right?"

"Of course, we will" Thembi said.

"Oh your date is waiting at table 8" TT mentioned.

"Alright, bye" Nicki waved as she closed the front door and go into the taxi.

Once the taxi pulled up, Nicki paid and walked into the restaurant.

"Table for one?" The male waiter asked, grabbing a menu.

"Oh no. I'm meeting up with someone, they're at table 8"

"Oh okay, I'll take you there" The waiter escorted Nicki to the table and they stopped a few inches away from the table.

"Thank you" Nicki said as the waiter handed her her menu.

"You're welcome" The waiter walked away. Nicki put her hand out for her date to shake but instead he gave her a hug. After the hug, they sat down at the table.

"Hi, I'm Aubrey but everyone calls me Drake"

"Onika but everyone calls me Nicki or Nic"

They spent 10 minutes talking before the same waiter came over. "Are you two ready to order?"

"Yes" Drake answered, looking at Nicki to see if she was. She smiled as a way to respond.

"Okay so what would you like?"

"I'll have the steak" Drake said.

"And you my lady?"

Nicki scanned the menu again "I'll have the chicken fillet with a side of roast potatoes"

"And your drinks?"

"I'll have a glass of your finest wine"

"I'll just have a water" Nicki smiled.

"I'll be back with your orders in a few" As soon as the waiter left, they continued their conversation.

This is strange; I'm actually really enjoying the date.

"I know that we've just met but I feel like I've known you forever" Drake said.

"I feel the same way, this is the best date I've been on and trust me I've been on a lot!"

"Aww thanks" Drake smiled at her and she smiled back.

The waiter came back with their drinks. "A glass of wine for you, sir... And a glass of water for you, ma'am"

"Thank you" Drake and Nicki said simultaneously. They sat in comfortable silence as they waited for the waiter to come back with their meals.

"Here's your steak" The waiter placed the steak in front of Drake, "And your chicken fillet meal" the waiter placed the chicken fillet in front of Nicki.

"Enjoy!"

"So tell me a bit more of about yourself" Drake asked, cutting a piece of steak and eating it.

"Erm.. I currently work as an accountant and I live on my own"

"Doesn't it get lonely?"

"Sometimes but my friends are practically always at my house and enough about me, tell me some more about you' Nicki began to tuck into her meal.

"I live on my own too, I'm currently working two jobs and that's about it. My life's not even that interesting but can I ask you a question?"

Nicki was still eating a potato so she simply nodded.

"Where are you from? Not in a rude way but you don't seem like you're from around here"

"Oh I was born in Trinidad"

"Really? I'm not from around here either, I'm from Canada"

"That's weird but in a good way" Nicki grinned at him. When a different waiter came over to take away their plates, they were still talking and laughing.

"Finished with your plates?" The waitress asked.

"Yes" Drake answered for both of them.

"Would you like any desserts?"

"Can I have a slice of your raspberry swirl cheesecake" Drake told her and looked at Nicki waiting for her to order something.

"No thank you"

"I'll be back with your cheesecake" The waitress walked away.

They talked and talked about their life to each other and were oblivious to the fact that they had been on this date for over 2 hours.

"Okay, here's your cheesecake" The waitress gave Drake his plate with his cheesecake on it and left the two alone.

Drake cut a piece of cheesecake and ate it.

"Want some?" Drake asked.

"I guess... Just a small piece though"

Drake cut a small piece and gave it to Nicki who leaned over the table to receive it.

"That's really nice" Nicki said, wiping her mouth with her napkin.

"Want to share? It's pretty big for me"

"Sure" Nicki grabbed her dessert fork and cut a bit off.

After they finished, Drake asked for the bill and they went outside.

"Do you have to go now because I wondered if you wanted to go to the park for a walk...?”

"No I don't have to go yet, I'd love to" They walked around the corner from the restaurant and into the local park.

"This is nice" Drake said as they walked around the pond.

"I know" Nicki looked down and noticed they were holding hands. Drake looked down and noticed too, he smiled at her.

"Want to sit down?" Drake whispered in Nicki's ear.

"Yeah, sure" They sat down on the park bench.

"So have you had fun?"

"Yes, I had so much fun" 

This is probably the best day out I've had in ages.

"That's good because I've had fun too"

"Oh I forgot to tell you, you look really nice"

"Thank you"

"Well I think I should get going, it's almost 11pm" Nicki stood up and waited for Drake to.

"I'll walk you back to the restaurant" When they got to the restaurant, Nicki hailed herself a cab.

"Can I have your number?" Drake asked and took his phone out his pocket.

"Sure" Nicki gently took his phone from him and saved her number in his phone under Nicki ♥, She gave him back his phone.

"Would it be okay if I kissed you?" Drake asked.

"Yes, it would" Drake leaned in and kissed her cheek. Nicki blushed as he pulled away.

Damn it. It was just a cheek kiss.

A cab pulled up in front of the restaurant and beeped.

"I hope we can do this again" Nicki said as she gave Drake a hug.

"I hope so too"

"Bye" Nicki got in the cab and Drake shut the door for her. As the cab drove away, Drake waved and walked to the car park to get his car.

At Nicki's house, the girls were talking about how they thought the date went.

"I bet she brings him home" TT said.

"She'll probably come back in the morning" Lauren winked.

"She walked in with her hair and makeup messed up" Thembi said and they all laughed.

Meanwhile, the cab pulled up outside Nicki's house.

"Thank you" Nicki said to the cab driver as she stepped out. She unlocked the front door and walked inside her house.

"She's back" Thembi sang.

"So how was it?" Candi asked as Nicki walked into the living room and sat next to her.

"Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. Like completely"

"See, I know you would" Candi smiled.

"What did you do?" TT asked.

"What you normally do on a date" Nicki laughed.

"Be more specific"

"We ate dinner, shared a slice of cheesecake and went for a walk in the park"

"Aww" They all said.

"It's getting late so I'm going to bed. Are you guys staying over or going home?" Nicki got up from the couch.

"Staying" They replied.

"Okay then Night" She shouted as she walked up her stairs and got ready for bed. When she was about to close her eyes, she received a text.

* Goodnight beautiful.

A few weeks later, Nicki was in her room getting ready to go out when her phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's Candi"

"Oh hey, what's up?"

"The girls and I were wondering if you wanted to go out for lunch"

"Sorry babe, I'm already going out for lunch"

"What, with who? Oh wait I know. Drake?"

"Yeah"

"How many date have you been on with him so far?"

"This is the 4th, I think"

"Awwwww"

"Shut up, I've got to finish getting ready so I'll talk to you later"

"Oh okay, bye"

"Bye" Nicki hung up her phone.

At the restaurant, Drake was waiting for Nicki to arrive. As he was about to call her, she walked through the door and walked over to him.

"I'm sorry I'm late. I was going to get a cab and then I was decided to drive and,"

"It's okay, I haven't been here that long" Nicki smiled and went to sit down. Drake pulled the chair out and made sure she was sitting comfortably before he sat down himself.

"Are you ready to get something to eat?" Drake asked.

"Yeah" Drake called over a waiter so they could order.

"I'll have a chicken caesar salad" Drake closed his menu.

"Can I have the same?"

"Yes, your orders should be brought over in about 5 minutes"

As they waited for their salads, they had a nice friendly conversation.

"This is the first time I've been set on a blind date and I've gone on more than one with them" Nicki stated.

"I feel special"

"You should" Nicki grinned at him.

"Can I ask you something?"

The waiter came over and placed their meals in front of them.

"Here you go, bon appétit" The waiter smiled as he walked away.

"What were you saying?" Nicki used her fork to pick up some of her salad.

Drake swallowed the piece of chicken he had in his mouth. "So we've been on a couple dates now and I've been falling for you and... Erm, would you like to be my girlfriend?"

"I would love too"
